To Fish or Not to Fish

We have been monitoring water temperatures in the Wye at Monmouth daily during this hot spell of weather.  Today, Sunday, July 5th, water temperatures in the Wye were 23.5 deg C, which is as high as we would normally like to see them and down a notch from yesterday. Other parameters are all good. There is water weed in the lower Hadnock Road stretch to give shade to the fish.

We would recommend that our members do not fish our rivers until the situation improves.

If conditions deteriorate, we may well stop the fishing in our rivers.

Please play and handle any fish with extra care and try to unhook them in the net while still in the water.
