Wye Bridge Closure.

This may well affect your fishing on the River Wye if you approach from the West.

“• MCC have applied for a road closure that will close the bridge from 16th October 2023 until 20th November 2023 (5 weeks).

PLEASE NOTE. THIS BRIDGE CLOSURE HAS BEEN DEFERRED. We will advise of new dates when they are published.

• The closure will be a complete closure of the bridge for 24 hours a day during this period.

• The bridge will be open to pedestrians and cyclists but no vehicular access will be allowed.

• They are considering options for “blue light access” that will mean emergency services can travel across the bridge.  There will still be a delay for them but it will be better than having to use the official diversion.

• The official diversion will be between 20-30 miles using A roads to get to Ross-on-Wye. This is governed by law as they have to use the same size roads or higher than the one being closed.  It likely locals will know alternatives that will not be as long.

• The closure is not just to resolve the surface but to also retain and improve the bridge’s structural integrity.
